Vellai Pillayar temple is a prominent Vinayagar temple located at Attur, Attur Taluk, and Salem. Presiding deity in this temple is Lord Vinayagar who is worshipped as Vellai Pillayar. There are several trees found within the temple complex. But lord Vinayagars favorite tree is Ficus religiosa tree (Arasa Maram in Tamil) is found opposite to Lord Vinayagar which is the Sthala Virutcham of this temple. Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board are administering this temple. Annadhanam (free meals) has been offered here every day at 12:30 PM. Pooja related articles are sold at a small shop found within the temple complex. Annual festivals celebrated at this temple are Vinayagar Chathurthi, Annabhisekam (Tamil month of Aippasi), Mahasivarathri, Tamil New year (Tamil month of Chithirai) and Ayyappan Mandala Poojai (Tamil month of Karthikai). Devotees who wish to get child boon and relieve from the effects of 7 1/2 Sani, Asthama Sani and marriage obstacles pour water on the Kalayana Vinayagar, light lamps and circumbulate around him. They believe that the lord will answer their problems. Devotees can offer their worship at this temple at 6:00 AM 12:00 Noon and 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM. On 10.11.2002 foundation stone for the renovation of the sanctum sanctorum, vimanam and Artha Mandapam was laid by A.K.Murugesan, the then MLA of Attur.      Book Now

Dharmarajar Draupathi Amman Temple

Dharmarajar Temple and Draupathi Amman Temple is located at Thayumanavar Street, Attur, Attur Taluk, Salem District. Presiding deity in this temple is Dharmarajar and Draupathi Amman. Thuluva Vellalar Mahajana Mandram Uravumurai is maintaining this temple. Beautiful idols are adonring the Five tier gopuram. Huge Garuda Alwar and Hanuman statues are found at the temple entrance. Idols depicting the scenes of Sri Krishna show his parents that he is the Avatar of Lord Vishnu, Draupathi Ammans birth, Sri Krishna gave cloth to Draupathi and coronation of Dharmar found within the temple premises. This temple is Navagraha Parihara Sthalam for Sani Bhagwan. Navagraha Dosha and Sani Dosha Parihara santhi homam has been conducted on Saturdays at 7:00 PM 9:00 PM. Those who have the adverse effects of Navagrahas are participating at this homam. They believe that the adverse effects of the planets will be eased.
